About

21st street bridge over Zink Lake

The Tulsa Rowing Club has been active in Tulsa for 40+ years and provides an opportunity to experience the challenge and enjoyment of rowing, whether you’re looking for health and recreation or a chance to race at regattas across the country.

The club is an entity of the Sooner Rowing Association (SRA), which was conceived by oilman and philanthropist Dr. Charles Oliphant as a vehicle to promote the benefits of exercise through rowing to Tulsans and all Oklahomans.

The Tulsa Rowing Club is home to two active rowing programs:

  • TRC Masters Program, which provides rowing opportunities for adults ages 19+
  • The Tulsa Youth Rowing Program, which offers rowing for high school students in grades 8-12. Information about the Tulsa Youth Rowing Association (TYRA) can be found at www.okrowing.org.

History of Rowing in Tulsa

The Tulsa Rowing Club was formed in 1982, with boats stored in a large storage container located on River Parks until 1991, when the Boathouse was built and dedicated.

The TRC Boathouse was home to The University of Tulsa Women’s Rowing program until TU’s move to its own boathouse at the Port of Catoosa in 2007.

TRC and Tulsa Youth Rowing Association continue to enjoy a supportive and collaborative relationship. With the recent transformation of Zink Lake and the Arkansas River corridor, the club is fully realizing its vision to bring the sport of rowing to all Tulsans as interest in rowing and its health benefits continues to grow.
